Rob Johnson is the Executive Director of the Alliance for Responsible Consumer Legal Funding (ARC) and a retired member of the Oklahoma State Legislature. As the son of a small business owner, Johnson understands how small businesses can drive innovation and improve communities. Supporting these businesses and the families they serve has been a pillar of his career.
While in the state legislature, Johnson served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Oklahoma State Senate. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, he was selected to serve as Majority Whip, where he played a key role in shaping Oklahoma public policy. Johnson authored some of the most comprehensive lawsuit reform measures in the country, as well as a number of other pieces of legislation to give Oklahoma a more business-friendly environment.
In 2013, Johnson was instrumental in the passage of legislation which enacted robust consumer protections for consumer legal funding in the state of Oklahoma, and at the same time maintained access for those that need it. The law has since been praised by stakeholders on all sides of the issue. Following its implementation, thousands of families have been able to use consumer legal funding as a lifeline while waiting for a fair settlement.
Johnson has received many awards and honors related to his public service, including the prestigious Legislator of the Year award from the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association, The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Distinguished Service Award, and the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association Appreciation Award. He has participated in civic and legislative leadership groups, including Leadership Kingfisher County, Leadership Oklahoma, and the American Council of Young Political Leaders. Johnson has also served as the Oklahoma Co-Chairman for the American Legislative Exchange Council, and in 2005 was selected as one of 50 legislators from around the country for the State Legislative Leadership Foundation’s Program for Emerging Political Leaders.
Johnson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Oklahoma State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Now a practicing attorney, he resides with his wife children in the Oklahoma City area.
